Shane O'Reilly

I am a theatre maker and performer based in Dublin. I have worked in TYA for 10 years performing and making work with prolific companies such as Barnstorm Theatre and The Abbey. From 2009 I was a member of the Barnstorm Acting Ensemble, performed in five productions with the company and developed new work in collaboration with international makers and also writers such as Mike Kenny, Tom Swift and Maeve Ingoldsby. I have toured extensively both nationally and internationally with TYA work.

I have also developed, written and created original work for young audiences (Vampire with no Teeth, Bockety World of Henry and Bucket) and am currently creating a family musical (in collaboration with Denis Clohessy and Paul Curley) about two men attempting to parent a goldfish titled There's Gold in the Water.

Recently I was invited to present a segment of my new musical at On The Edge TYA festival in Birmingham and also to present a paper on Sexuality and Gender in TYA as part of a programmed panel discussion.

I am a keen collaborator and work as an associate artist with WillFredd Theatre Company co-creating a lot of their original work (FOLLOW, FARM, CARE, JOCKEY). I also work extensively in mainstream theatre and have performed with The Abbey, The Gate, Rough Magic, Prime Cut, Verdant Productions, The Gaiety along with other other major international theatre producers and venues. I am a participant in the Six in the Attic artist residency at the Irish Theatre Institute.
