Jarl Flaaten Bjørk is the artistic director of Flaatenbjørk kompani. Since the company was founded in 2006 Flaatenbjørk kompani have produced six shows for youth and children.
Flaatenbjørk kompani makes performances that in different ways reflects and explore issues concerning society of today. In all their productions the company has a special interest in the audience as more than passive spectators. The company has toured over the whole of Norway with performances created for the Cultural Rucksack.
Aside from being artistic director Jarl Flaaten Bjørk also work as a freelance actor, director, dramaturg and play write. Jarl is a trained physical actor and performer, educated at The Norwegian Theatre Academy, graduated in 2003. Jarl is not keen to tell “eternal”, classic stories, but rather keen to tell stories that are specific to our time, both in form and content.
