Emilie Conway

I am a jazz performance artist.  Music comes first in my practice but it is complemented and informed by my love literature, poetry, sound and silence.  I blend my own compositions, spoken word / poetry, with improvised or composed music and my interpretation of familiar and less familiar jazz standards.  Lyrically and musically, my set has its own narrative, literally or metaphorically. Working in a traditional jazz setting - piano/guitar, bass, drums with some of Ireland's leading jazz musicians - and also contemporary settings - e.g. duo with double bass / tabla. Singing in many languages.

Special concentrations
Jazz Mara: Irish and Brazilian music through shared mythology.
Jazz for children: The Smashing Red Kite’s Blues
It All Works Out: advocacy talks and performances for children about being an artist with a disability.
