Jo Even Bjørke

Jo Even is an actor and director from Trondheim, Norway. He is a graduate from École International de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris and the co-founder of the international theatre company the Krumple. Through the company Jo Even aims to create visually arresting theatre without borders, characterised by a strong element of surprise and with a grounding in physical theatre. The human is at the forefront of the Krumple’s work, each show walking a fine line between sensitivity and stupidity, as the company strives to look through both ends of the telescope for what usually cannot be seen. Most of Jo Even’s work is devised collaboratively, and he has created shows both for younger and adult audiences. His work often tells stories in a non-linear fashion, with a leaning towards the poetic and the surreal.

He has created and toured extensively with the performances “Go to Sleep, Goddamnit!”, “Do Not Feed the Trolls” and “YOÌ„KAI” in Norway, Denmark, Germany, France, Georgia, the UK and the US. In 2015 he received a two-year artist grant for young actors from Arts Council Norway. Besides acting Jo Even has some years of training in classical ballet and contemporary dance. He is currently working on the Krumple’s latest project DÉJÀ, a co-production with Nordland Visual Theatre.
